HEALTH INFORMATICS BLOG
About the Author
Welcome to my blog. I am currently working on my Master of Public Health degree with a focus in Healthcare Administration. Following this I hope to commission as a Healthcare Administration officer in the United States Navy.
Here you’ll find a selection of my work, and below a summary of my current role. Nothing I say here should be treated as medical advice, and my posts do not reflect the views of the United States Navy.
As a Medical Department Chief Petty Officer, I am a seasoned medical professional with leadership skills honed in high-pressure environments. In this role I play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency, effectiveness, and readiness of our medical department with positive impacts while supporting a company of over 200 employees.
Responsibilities:
Lead a team of medical personnel while providing guidance, mentorship, and supervision to ensure optimal performance and professional development within the department.
Maintain the highest standards of operational readiness within the medical department. Coordinate training exercises, drills, and simulations to ensure readiness for a variety of medical scenarios and emergencies.
Oversee administrative functions within the medical department including scheduling, patient flow, supply management, access to care, and record-keeping. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
Maintain a focus on delivering exceptional patient care at all times. Collaborate with medical officers and other healthcare providers to ensure timely and effective treatment for all patients.
Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of healthcare services within the department. Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Facilitate ongoing training and professional development opportunities for medical department personnel. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the department.
Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and medical facilities to ensure seamless coordination of patient care and support.
Over a decade in Navy medicine gives me a good framework and understanding of various aspects of he medical field.
Within this blog I will cover information about health informatics hoping to generate a dialogue about healthcare advances. We can only improve the system if we strive for innovation.
